The Howling Gales

Friday 10th October  8pm Tickets €12

THE HOWLING GALES came together when four singer songwriters from Bantry met for a casual jam. Darragh had been asked to cover a gig in a local music venue last minute, and Marc, Bean and Benji joined Darragh for the gig. They went down a storm and have decided to do a small tour of Ireland to celebrate. Featuring Darragh Coakley and Marc de Zoeten from THE CALVINISTS, Bean Dolan from JUKEBOX GYPSY and Benji Connolly from THE HIGHER ANIMALS. The Howling Gales sound is on the bluesy-rock end of the spectrum, and they already have a number of original compositions that will released on an album in early 2015.

The High Tide Club are delighted to announce the first appearance of The Howling Gales this Friday 10th October. Doors 8pm. Tickets €12 can be purchased online http://www.sarahwalkergallery.com/index.php/events/buy-tickets-online?categorylayout=0 027 70387 086 1930552

MORE ABOUT THE CALVINISTS:

The Calvinists are an original, energetic gypsy blues and alternative folk band from West Cork, Ireland. Their songs, laced with infectious harmonies and driving rhythms draw inspiration from the spirit of gypsy musicians and American troubadours, the energy of punk rockers and the eerie voodoo of the Deep South. Combined with their penchant for battering their instruments, belting out harmonies, yodeling, shouting and generally causing a ruckus, it makes for an experience to remember.

Since their formation in 2010 they have built a loyal fan base and a reputation for quality, energetic live performances. They have performed live on R.T.E (Ireland) television’s popular “Saturday Night Show” and have been featured on national and local radio stations. They have toured in Ireland and Europe, also performing at Electric Picnic, Indiependence and Knockanstockan music festivals.

Their debut album ‘King of Lies’ was recorded over eight glorious sunny days in West Cork last July and was released on the 22nd of May 2014.
